ABOUT BEVERLY:
Beverly has
been in private practice since 2002 opening her office in Royal Oak,
June 2003. She enjoys working with individuals, couples, families and
has a passion for family systems therapy. Participants find strength
from Beverly’s unique approach of combining psychotherapy and life
coaching while helping them build a solid foundation for positive
change. She utilizes cognitive behavioral, solution focus, motivational
and brief therapies to support patients working through grief & loss,
conflict management, and various mental health concerns.
FOCUS ON THE
INDIVIDUAL "MIND, BODY, EMOTION, & SPIRIT:"
Each client is
unique, therefore, a thorough evaluation is done to determine the type
of therapy and support that will best meet their needs. If life
coaching is requested by the client placement will be made after the
appropriate assessment has been completed and it is deemed appropriate.
Our goal is to assist each individual in defining goals, provide
structure, provide a map and directions, provide support, and give
encouragement.
AT EMPOWERMENT:
A resource center
is available in our reception area. Pamphlets related to health,
mental illness, and substance abuse are displayed for reading and
personal reference. Hotline information and various emergency
support numbers are provided along with educational materials related to
"Your Teen and the Law" and local runaway shelters.
SEMINARS AND
THERAPEUTIC SUPPORTS:
Realizing the need
for ongoing therapeutic support, Beverly has developed a professional
education and support division of the company called "Reach For The
Stars!". She provides quality mental health educational
programming at reasonable rates. Educational workbooks and other
therapeutic items are available at her office. (Please refer to
"contact us" page for more information.)
SOLO PRIVATE
PRACTICE:
Beverly (BJ) is
author of "Solo Private Practice: A step by step guide to opening your
own private practice." BJ has developed a seminar to education
mental health professionals on the many facets of opening and operating
their practice. Solo was originally written 2004 and revised 2006. A free copy of Solo is included

Professional Clinical and Macro Practice Counseling:
Larry M. Gant, Ph.D., LMSW -
An Independent Associate -
By appointment only.
Counseling Services (Very likely) Covered by Insurance.
There are many counseling
tasks which can pretty easily be covered by existing insurance plans.
Here, Dr. Gant’s areas of expertise and training include services for
persons with subclinical anxiety and depression, adjustment disorders,
and persons needing Level 1 pain management (distraction techniques).
Dr. Gant provides clinical counseling services for individuals, adult
males (18 years and older), ethnic/cultural minorities, recovering drug
dependent individuals. Dr. Gant is trained and teaches in the areas of
clinical counseling. His approaches reflect classic family and social
systems level of analysis, use of DSM-IVTR, supportive short term
therapy, motivational interviewing, integrative health and wellness
approaches with appropriate intake and referral as needed.
Counseling Services requiring Private Pay (sliding scale: $75 –
$100/hour).
There are other counseling tasks that are important but not currently
identified as “mental health issues” leading to a billable diagnostic
category. So, they usually are not covered by most insurance plans.
These include most macro practice issues such as community organization,
community development, program evaluation, community level data analysis
and basic nonprofit management and organizational services.
Other clinical services not routinely covered by insurance but within
Dr. Gant’s area of expertise include individual clinical practice
supervision. In addition, building on the experience as a tenured full
professor at the University of Michigan School of Social Work, Dr. Gant
also provides specialty career counseling and consultation regarding
tenure and promotion issues for college/university tenure track junior
faculty and mid-career faculty (assistant/associate professor level).
Dr. Gant provides career counseling and consultation for doctoral
students (pre-doctoral/post-doctoral) in behavioral and social sciences.
Dr. Gant provides these private pay services for all adult males and
females (18 years of age and over).
