Course Description

Participants will learn new assessment and treatment of co-occurring disorders. The impact of addiction on the family will be explored. Discussion will take place on nicotine addiction in the mentally ill, the impact of cigarette smoking and HIV, and prescription abuse and medical marijuana.

 

Objectives

Participants will identify: 1) Drug categories and observable affects, 2) The four-tiered foundation of recovery, 3) The impact of nicotine addiction on the mentally ill, cigarette smoking and HIV, and prescription abuse with medical marijuana.

 Presenter will encourage the social work practitioner to think and strategize as a business executive, assist in aligning the business plan and mental health practice strategy, while examining professional credentials and service offering.  Participant will explore legal structures, marketing, credentialing with insurance companies, documentation, HIPPA requirements and how to organize their business with proper accounting practices.

Participants will identify: 1) Understand NASW and state guidelines for opening and operating a private practice, 2) Explore private practice models, 3) Identify various legal structures, 4) Explore credentialing with insurance companies, 5) Discuss HIPPA requirements, 6) Review proper accounting procedures

              Process Addictions

Course Description

The course will provide understanding of process addictions, impact on the individual and their families. Insight will be gained in diagnosis and treatment.

 

Objectives

Participants will: 1) Identify various process addictions i.e., sex, gambling, shopping, and hoarding, 2) Explore the differential diagnosis of sex addiction, 3) Distinguish the different patterns of over-shoppers and over-spenders as well as the origins and treatment, 4) Understand the inter-related issues of compulsive theft (especially shoplifting, employee theft and credit card fraud) as well as hoarding and cluttering.

ADA - We will accommodate individuals with special needs as long as we have notification three weeks prior to seminar. Any request after the stated deadline will be honored whenever possible.

 

REGISTRATION AND REFUND POLICY -  Sign-in and sign-out is monitored for Social Work Clock Hours and MCBAP Certifications. Individual must attend full presentation schedule to receive CE's. Please arrive 15 - 30 minutes prior to program, and allow time at end of day for sign out and receipt of your CE Certificates.
